The Wall

A wall simply provides protection from the outer environment. It is a structure that defines an area, carries a load, or provides shelter or security. There are many kinds of walls: Defensive walls in fortification. Walls in buildings that form a fundamental part of the superstructure or separate interior sections, sometimes for fire safety. Sometime wall simply is not understood as the boundry of house because there are lots of enormous wall. For example Trump wall between  Mexico and USA(to be built), The Great Wall of China etc.



The big venture not only take billions of cost but also it makes the nation proud. It injects a good supplements to the nation's tourism.
Here we are going to show some famous walls.

1. Berlin Wall, Germany

This wall was built much later than the previous ones, but just as much famous. Construction began in 1961, at the peak of the cold war. It was built in the middle of Berlin by East Germany in order to stop East Berliners to escape to the west. It was finally taken down with the fall of the Soviet Union in 1989. Remnants can still be found today in Berlin and are one of the biggest tourists attractions

2. Walls of Ston, Croatia

The second longest wall in Europe – after Hadrian’s – this ancient fortification was constructed to protect Dubrovnik and its nearby salt pans, which were the driving force behind the city’s economy.
Completed in the 15th century, the 3.5-mile wall and its many towers link the towns of Ston and Mali Ston, passing through some pretty scenery en route.

3. Hadrian’s Wall, England

The longest wall in Europe, this wall was built by the Romans to protect their colony Britannia from the tribes in Scotland. It stretches for 117 km (73 miles) all across the land from shore to shore

4. Vietnam Veterans Memorial, Washington, D.C.

 A national memorial in Washington, D.C. It honors U.S. service members of the U.S. armed forces who fought in the Vietnam War, service members who died in service in Vietnam/South East Asia, and those service members who were unaccounted for (Missing In Action) during the War

5. Sacsayhuamán, Peru

A tricky one to pronounce for the English tongue, the city of Sacsayhuaman was once the capital of the Inca Empire and comprised a series of walls, which, legend has it, were laid out to look like a puma’s snarling teeth.

The giant boulders used to build the walls of Sacsayhuaman were so expertly interlocked that the site has survived countless earthquakes to have rocked the region.

6.Western Wall, Jerusalem

The Western Wall, also called the Wailing Wall, is located in the Old City of Jerusalem, Israel. With about half the wall, i.e. 17 courses below the street level, built in around 19 BC at the end of the Second Temple period, and the remaining layers added from 7th century onward, it is a holy Jewish religious site. It was the western wall of the temple, regarded in Judaism as the remnant of the Holy Temple. It is the closest permitted accessible site to the Foundation Stone, the holiest spot for Jews.

7.Walls of Troy, Turkey

One of the oldest walls still standing today, this wall was built in the 13th century BC to protect the legendary city of Troy. This wall withstood the famous 10 year siege of Troy

8. Chewing Gum Wall, Seattle

Down an unassuming alleyway next to Seattle’s famed Pike Place Market is a hidden work of art dubbed the Gum Wall or the Wall of Gum. The unexpected and colorful display is an excellent representation of Seattle’s unique charm and character.

9. Great Zimbabwe Wall, Zimbabwe

Great Zimbabwe is a ruined city in Zimbabwe. It was the capital of the Kingdom of Zimbabwe during the country’s Late Iron Age. The city was surrounded by these walls

10. Walls of Babylon, Iraq

Ancient Babylon in Mesopotamia, situated about 85 km south of Baghdad was surrounded by these walls. Their origins reach back to 575 BC and the Ishtar Gate was considered as one of the world wonders of the ancient world due to its grandeur and architecture

11. Israeli West Bank barrier wall

 Located in Jerusalem, the Western Wall, also known as the Wailing Wall is a famous Jewish religious site. The wall dates from the end of the Second Temple period, being constructed around 19 BC by Herod the Great. The wall was the western wall of the temple. In Judaism, the Western Wall is venerated as the sole remnant of the Holy Temple, making it the holiest place for Jewish people, the most visited site in Jerusalem and one of the most visited attraction in Israel

12. The Great Wall of China

 Built in the 14th century, the Great Wall Of China stretches for 8,850 kilometers!  This amazing wall was built to protect the northern borders of the Chinese Empire from the attacks of nomadic tribes. The Great Wall is one of the most recognized structures in the world, it is the largest man made barrier ever built, and it’s without a doubt one of the most amazing engineering achievements. However, the legend that claims that it’s the only man made structure visible from space with the naked eye, is false.
