A River That Flows By Kathmandu

This river separates two districts of Kathmandu valley, Lalitpur and Kathmandu. It is considered as the Thames river . It is also regarded as the holy river of Hindus and Buddhists. Number of Hindu temples are located on its bank. People also believe that it washes all the sins when devotees get bath here.
Baagmati  is considered as the source of Nepalese civilization and urbanization. Famous holy temple PASHUPATINATH also situated on the bank of this river. Devotees from India and many parts of the world come here to worship.

This river flushes large amount of untreated sewage and is polluted.  People directly mix the wastages and garbage directly in to the river. It gains lots of water pollution as well as air pollution.
People nearby get affected by this problems. Many people and lots of organizations are trying to restore this river but no one is able to do so. Then what can we do to clean this holy river?
Here are some tips:
  • Awareness
  • Dispose and recycle all trash properly
  • Let the river to flow.
  • Use natural fertilizer
  • Cleaning river banks
  • Do not mix the various liquid directly in the river
  • Leave thousands of fish.
  • Remove the blockages in the rivers.
  • Become an activist
  • Teach people about the importance of this holy river.
If this things can be done one day this river will be like THAMES river of UK.
